Hi all - Thought I'd share this ride for this weekend for any interested. Ft Macon to Emerald Point (faster group) or Dairy Queen (slower group) and back (~50 miles RT). Details-
We will meet at the Fort Macon Parking Lot at Atlantic Beach at 9:00am – August 17, 2019 – and ride our bikes to the Emerald Isle Dairy Queen and back to our starting point at Fort Macon. For most of this ride there is a paved shoulder to ride on. This is the beach, and like any beach there will be a sea breeze either going or coming and if we are real lucky both ways. This is a 45 miles trip with several stops for drink and rest along the way. Our plan is to break into two groups one fast going all the way and another going slower and may modify the route based on the skill level composition of the rides in the group.
You are welcome to invite others to ride with us as well, remind them to bring water. This is August at midday and it will be hot with high humidity making it feel even hotter. Don’t forget to bring water or some other sports drink to consume along the way to prevent dehydration.
